How many places can you think of where you can design a fragrance, enjoy a movie from atop a hay bale, and get a fantastic meal made entirely from ingredients grown onsite? I can only think of one: Flora Farms, Los Cabos.
Flora Farms was recommended to me by locals, and for good reason. There’s a plethora of activities to enjoy that changes by the season.
What is Flora Farms?
As the name suggests, Flora Farms is an organic farm that spans over 25 acres. However, it’s also much more than that. It’s a collective of culinary artisans, philanthropists, artists, and humanitarians. Their compassion for nature and for their community is deeply palpable.
16 Fun Things to Do at Flora Farms, Los Cabos
Here are some suggestions of how to get the most out of your visit to Flora Farms:
1. Enjoy an amazing meal at the restaurant (Flora’s Field Kitchen).
If you only experience one thing here, please let it be the restaurant. Everything from the fresh food to the secluded and relaxed atmosphere made this place one of the most memorable from my Los Cabos trip.
The menu changes seasonally, so you’ll always be able to try something new when you visit throughout the year. Prices are on the mid-to-higher side, but the quality and presentation of the food combined with the atmosphere and the service made it worth it for me.
Round 1: Breakfast
The peace of Flora Farms was palpable from the moment I stepped out of my Uber. The restaurant is at the end of the walking path through the shopping area.
The hosts wore beautiful floral dresses, and the theme extended to the fresh mason jar flower arrangements adorning every table.
Although I was the first person to arrive thanks to a 9am reservation, the place filled quickly. While this place was recommended to me by a local, everyone else here was a tourist.
The first culinary delight was a lovely decaf almond milk cappuccino that actually had foam. Soy milk was also offered as a non-dairy option.
The overnight oats were my breakfast item of choice. At first I was a bit bummed that this was the only marked vegan item on the menu, but my qualm was quickly remedied after the first bite. It had just the right amount of sweetness and cinnamon. Blueberries were a nice topper, and slivered almonds added the perfect amount of texture and crunch.
And the presentation, hello? Served with sliced banana and papaya. Garnished with mint and flowers. Lovely.
For the sake of this review…I ended my breakfast with one of their seasonal cocktails. The Guayabita (with guava, agave, and Mezcal) was pretty good, and gave me an excuse to linger and enjoy the calm of the farm.
The service was as excellent as the food. Staff noticed the sun had moved to a pestering latitude and kindly moved an umbrella for me without me having to ask. They then promptly brought me two cold hand towels to cool off.
The restaurant is mostly outdoors, with some covered open-air seating. Plenty of rotating floor fans were placed throughout the restaurant, which staff turned on around 9:45am.
Upon noticing the strings of tungsten bulbs strewn throughout, a birdbath in the courtyard, and small stages for the evening live music, I imagined this place having a great vibe at night.
After being unimpressed with the dinner options at the Garza Blanca Resort, I got to experience an evening meal at Flora Farms.
Round 2: Dinner
As expected, the delightful atmosphere continued from day mode into night mode. The live music acts started setting up around 6:30pm and began playing right at 7:30pm.
A free watermelon juice mojito was placed in my hand on arrival. After escorting me to my table, staff lit some sage next to me to act as a pleasantly fragrant bug repellant.
A sampling of vegan gazpacho made its way to me as well. That, along will all of the bread, did not last long on the table.
The corn orecchiette was fabulous, with “charred farm corn, smoky crema, lime and cotija.” I could have eaten a second bowl.
The guava sorbet and coconut ice cream was so refreshing. It tasted like Easter. A perfect amount of tang, sweetness, and creaminess, especially with the fresh guava and crumble on top (possibly coconut sugar).
Service was again fantastic. I felt so tended-to. To elaborate, staff refilled my burning sage four or five times. They gave me a fresh mason jar of water when the ice melted even though it was still mostly full.
Additionally, one of the hosts from breakfast the previous day recognized me and came to my table to greet me personally. We talked for several minutes about random things, and it emphasized the welcoming culture of Flora Farms Los Cabos.
The live music, tungsten illumination, burning sage, and flavorful food delighted all the senses. I highly recommend coming here (anytime, but especially) for dinner.
Restaurant Reservations
A reservation is less necessary for breakfast/brunch. However, reservations for popular dinner hours frequently fill up a couple days in advance.
You can make a reservation for the restaurant at Flora Farms Los Cabos here.
2. Learn a new recipe in a cooking class.
Enjoyed what you had at the restaurant? Learn how to make it yourself!
From Tuesday to Friday, join a morning cooking class that teaches how to make a different dish each day. The cuisine ranges from Italian to traditional Mexican fare. As of this writing, the current offerings are rustic ratatouille, seasonal tamales, ricotta gnocchi, and regional salsas.
Despite the classes being held in the morning, feel free to indulge in some cocktails while you whisk up your tamales. (I won’t tell.)
All classes can accommodate vegan and vegetarian folks if they notify Flora Farms at least 48 hours beforehand, which is awesome.
Flora Farms also includes a full farm tour and lunch (with dessert) with your class. You’ll get the whole experience!

3. Relax at the spa.
An ideal complement to seclusion in a natural landscape is spa treatment. Flora Farms offers a full menu of massage, facial, hair, wax, and nail treatments. There are even some bridal hair and makeup services available.
You can find the spa’s menu and make a reservation here.
4. Try your hand at a watercolor art class.
For the artistically-inclined, there’s no shortage of flora subjects in this natural landscape.
Practice your drawing and watercolor painting skills through an art class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All materials are provided.
Included with your class is a continental breakfast, lunch, and either a glass of wine or a beer.
5. Explore the behind-the-scenes on a farm tour.
If you’d like to learn about the history of Flora Farms, take a free tour of the farm.
These tours are brief, about 30 minutes (and free!). You do need to reserve your spot, but it can be a lovely complement to your meal reservation.
6. Tour the flora with a plant expert.
For a more in-depth look at the native plants on the farm and in the nearby desert, take a “Walk with an Herbalist”.
A plant expert will teach you about Los Cabos’ native flora and their various medicinal properties.
These plant identification walks take place on Thursday mornings.
7. Watch a film outside in the warm summer evenings.
For a quaint outdoor film-viewing experience, check out the Summer Movie Nights scheduling.
You can opt to lounge on a hay bale or bring your own seating.
While you’re watching the movie, enjoy free popcorn and lemonade! You can purchase additional snacks and beverages from the “Cilantro” food truck and the bar.
8. Hear the talent of local musicians in the Songwriter Sessions.
During the summer months, the farm hosts what they call “Songwriter Sessions,” where they curate a performance season for local artists to showcase their original music.
And this is not to be confused with the live entertainment that underscores dinner at Flora’s Field Kitchen. These are dedicated performances with audience seating.
9. Go on a shopping spree.
The walkway that guides you from the road to the restaurant takes you through a small collection of boutiques. The goodies for sale range from clothing, jewelry, and soaps to wine and handmade crafts.
You can even take home some fresh produce grown right there on the farm. After your meal at the restaurant (that you really should do), visit the adjacent “grocery store” and pick up something succulent.
10. Invigorate your nose at the HIVE Fragrance Studio.
Also included among the many shops is the HIVE Fragrance Studio, a must-do for “smelly” folks. Here you can find over 70 fragrances made using herbs and flowers grown on Flora Farms.
You also have the option to craft some personal care products according to your olfactory taste, in what HIVE calls “Rituals”. For an even more personalized experience, book a private Ritual with a perfumer to create your own one-of-a-kind fragrance.
11. Meet furry friends at an Animal Adoption Event.
On select Tuesday evenings throughout the year, a most wholesome event occurs on the grounds behind the restaurant.
You can meet animals rescued from poor living situations that are in need of loving homes. While Flora Farms is not a rescue organization itself, it has crafted a program to support cats and dogs in need of adoption.
Come to a meet-and-greet with these adorable creatures! You can read about the animals currently being helped here.
12. Admire ofrendas at the Day of the Dead Altar Competition.
It’s quite special to be in Mexico during the Day of the Dead. One way to experience the ofrenda tradition is by attending Flora Farms’ altar competition.
Local businesses and charity organizations create large, colorful ofrendas that range from more traditional to more creative. An award ceremony grants a cash prize to the teams behind the winning altars.
Any Flora Farms visitor can meander and enjoy the ofrendas, but purchasing a ticket to the Day of the Dead event will give full access to the cocktail party area.
You can admire photos of past competitions here.
13. Celebrate Easter with kid-friendly activities.
If you find yourself in Los Cabos over Easter, consider spending the holiday at Flora Farms.
In addition to a fresh Easter brunch, you and your family can enjoy egg decorating (B.Y.O.Eggs), an egg hunt, and a bonnet contest.
Reservations to participate in the Easter festivities open at the beginning of the year.
14. Have a cozy Christmas.
Flora Farms Los Cabos has a variety of ways to say, “Feliz Navidad” if you prefer to spend Christmas in a warm climate.
Kids can enjoy a morning of decorating festive cookies at the farm, followed by lunch.
For Christmas Eve dinner, spend an evening at Flora Farms indulging in fresh pizza, with robust charcuterie and dessert tables. Gluten-free options are available.
The Christmas day brunch offers a way to celebrate the holiday with great food and a warm atmosphere. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free main dishes are available.
Reservations are required for all above Christmas festivities.
15. Ring in the New Year.
New Year’s Eve sounds like a blast. There’s a multiple-course dinner (with vegan and vegetarian options available for each course!), live music, acrobats, and fireworks. I’ll definitely consider coming here if I ever find myself in Los Cabos on December 31st.
Following the midnight celebrations, you can indulge in a delicious start to the new year with a New Year’s Day brunch.
You can make reservations for New Year’s activities here.
16. Stay a little longer in luxury.
If a simple meal, tour, or class isn’t enough to satiate you, you can rent a beautiful cottage or loft to stay on the farm itself. Accommodations range from studios to two bedrooms, and many include a private pool or hot tub.
Guests who stay at Flora Farms Los Cabos can use the farm’s private amenities (a yoga studio, bocce court, and community pool, to name a few).
Getting There
Flora Farms is accessible by car, and is located in San José del Cabo about a 15-minute drive from downtown. A taxi or Uber is going to be the mode of transport if you’re not driving yourself.
I loved that Flora Farms is a 5-minute drive from the JW Marriott Los Cabos, so I especially recommend visiting if you’re staying east of the San José del Cabo estuary.
The journey to Flora Farms is an adventurous one, on an unpaved road through the mountains. I felt a little bad for my Uber drivers’ cars.
There were cows quite literally on said road. You are on a farm, after all. However, I think the tucked-away quality adds to the place’s charm.
Overall
Flora Farms Los Cabos has so much to offer. If you like being outside, I think it would be difficult to dislike this place. I loved my visits here during my trip, and I can’t wait to return and experience more. I highly recommend adding a stop here to your Los Cabos itinerary!
