The journey from Seoul to Bali (via Singapore) was just long enough that I desired extra comfort but not so long that the price was above what I was willing to pay. Singapore Airlines 787 business class is part of their regional product offering. Since I was traveling within Asia, I got to experience the Singapore Airlines Boeing 787 edition.

Singapore Airlines 787 Business Class Review:
From lounges to landing, keep reading for my full Singapore Airlines 787 business class review.
Check In
The check-in process was painless. There was zero line for business class check-in, and only a handful of folks in line for economy. A checked bag up to 40kg is included in the cost of your ticket, and is given priority handling. The attendant made sure I was prepared with my Bali visa as well, which I appreciated.
You can find Singapore Airlines business class baggage allowance information here.
Lounge
Admission to the Silverkris Lounge is included with a business class ticket. You’re able to get some hot food and coffee (or something stronger) before heading to your gate. The Incheon lounge has a great view for plane spotting with a giant wall of windows.

The lounge staff keeps you updated with your flight status. There’s a large TV screen above the coffee machine near the entrance where you can check your flight. Additionally, the staff made an announcement when boarding for my flight to Singapore was delayed by ten minutes.
Boarding and Takeoff
Although boarding was delayed by ten minutes, the crew got everyone seated efficiently. Once seated, they offered a welcome drink of either orange or apple juice.

Shortly thereafter, the attendants came to take your lunch menu selection. They first greeted me and confirmed the pronunciation of my surname, a personal touch that I appreciated. They also confirmed that they had my vegan meal prepared and took my post-takeoff beverage order. Despite it being 9am, I requested a whiskey ginger (shhhh). The beverage selection in their menu is extensive.

Singapore Airlines included a delightful element in their safety video that I’d never before seen on any flight: in addition to the subtitles, someone was signing the safety video in the lower lefthand corner. It was an awesome accessibility point.

Once the plane was in the air, the crew delivered a snack pack of almonds and cashews. Even though it was late morning, they also tinted all the cabin windows so that it was essentially nighttime inside. It was quite dark, truly a marvel of modern technology.

Seat
I was nestled in 15A for the flight. Chocolate browns colored the seats with burnt orange accents on the pillows.

The headrest was soft and springy, with light controls built into the side next to your head. On either side of you are arm rests that raise and lower. Seat controls and attendant buttons are via a touch screen next to the seat. The seat’s equipped with a universal outlet and two USB outlets, as well as a massive tray table.
There was plenty of room for my backpack under the leg rest. It helped that the front part of the leg rest tilts up to accommodate the unceremonious bag shoving.

Singapore Airlines 787 business class seats are in a 1-2-1 configuration. Odd numbered window seats are closer to the window (except for seat 11), with the side console on the aisle side, so there’s a bit more privacy. Even numbered window seats are closest to the aisle (except for seat 12), with the side console next to the window. Center seats have a divider in between that can be raised and lowered.
I was greeted with a fluffy pillow and soft, borderline fuzzy, full-size blanket on my seat. Over-the-ear headphones and a full size bottle of water sat on the side console. Additional socks, slippers, and an eye mask were included.
Bed mode was VERY comfortable. The seat reclines totally flat, and I didn’t feel squished at all. The legs felt good, too. I could spread my feet about 10 inches apart. I’m 5’7″, for reference.

Food
I reserved a vegan meal in advance, which is what I’ll be reviewing here. If you’d like to reserve a special meal (ie. vegetarian, Kosher, gluten-free, Jain, child meal, etc.), you can do so from the Singapore Airlines website when you log in and select your flight booking.
Note you have to select the meal for each segment of your journey. If that segment is too short for a meal service, you won’t be able to select anything.
Menu
The Singapore Airlines business class menu offered both Singaporean and Korean fare to choose from, with a selection of wines and spirits to wash it down.
Lunch
First, an appetizer of two small hummus-stuffed bell peppers arrived in a bed of balsamic dressing. The filling was very creamy, but the peppers were quite hard to cut, especially when served in a tiny bowl. A small risotto salad followed.

The next appetizer was a cold dish of roasted tomato with herbs, asparagus, spinach, and soba noodles. Served with a pesto and a tomato-based sauce on the side. Very light and good.

I was pleasantly surprised that they had vegan butter and coffee creamer (which was actually vegan and not just lactose-free). Unfortunately, all of the bread basket selections had egg and/or dairy.

For the main course, couscous and veggies in a tomato sauce shared the plate most equitably. While not terribly exciting, it was still very good.

Dessert consisted of fresh fruit: orange, watermelon, and Korean pear. It was, indeed, very fresh.

To my delight, I was able to order a decaf coffee with steamed oat milk! The flight attendants were very kind to not cut me off as I indulged throughout the flight.

Amenity Kit
The amenity kit contained products from Penhaligon’s. It included a hand lotion, facial mist, lip balm, and a small clear Ziploc in case you wanted to carry them on during your next flight. That’s a nice touch.

Bathrooms
The Singapore Airlines 787 business class bathrooms didn’t look much different from your standard airplane bathroom.
Some fake flowers lightly decorated the wall. A drawer full of dental kits sat below a stack of towels.

Large versions of the same hand lotion and face mist from the amenity kit graced the countertop, as well as a perfume.
Overall, this was a very normal airplane bathroom with a few extras.
Entertainment
Each business class seat featured a large screen that tilts up and down. The touch screen was very responsive, and was also controllable via a remote.

Movies
The movie library included Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, European, and American films. Among the 403 total, almost half of them were Hollywood films.
As far as the American films, there was a good mix of old classics (ex. Indiana Jones, Star Wars) as well as films spanning the early 2000s to recent releases. Lots of Marvel and DC universe films as well.
TV
In case movies aren’t your thing, Singapore Airlines also has a lofty TV show offering. On my flight, there were 232 shows to choose from.
The TV shows ranged from live concert performances and celebrity Q&A’s to TED talks and HBO offerings like Game of Thrones.
Music
I was very impressed with their music selection. 793 albums! There were many English, Chinese, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, and Indian options.

There was lots of classic rock and pop. They also had ATEEZ, so I know the entertainment curator at Singapore Airlines has taste.
Inflight Monitor
Various screens alternated, giving you information about your flight progress or letting you view the flight path from a new angle. I liked that the inflight monitor showed what each side of the plane was viewing. There were no live cams, however.
It was convenient having the flight progress bar live in the upper center of the entertainment menu the whole time, so you don’t have to constantly open the Flight Path section to check how much flight time’s remaining.
Wifi
Wifi is complimentary for business and first class, as well as for Krisflyer members in economy and economy plus. A really nice bonus, and a good incentive for economy travelers to create a free Krisflyer account with Singapore Airlines.
You can connect up to three devices to the wifi at once. I found the connection to be pretty fast for surfing. Instagram loaded decently fast for airplane wifi as well, although the video quality was not high.
The wifi worked with my VPN, too!
Service
The flight attendants were very kind and attentive, and will talk with you if engaged. One asked me where I was from, and I learned she was from Singapore.
Another escorted me through the galley to the bathroom with a smile, even though they were busy cleaning up meal service, there was no space for more bodies, and I was definitely in the way.
Booking
I paid $1,510.84 for a roundtrip business class ticket between Seoul and Bali, with a connection in Singapore. The first leg was 6 hours, and the second was 2.5 hours. My ticket also let me relax and enjoy food in both Incheon Airport’s Silverkris lounge before takeoff and in Changi Airport’s Silverkris lounge during my layover.

Overall Singapore Airlines 787 Business Class Review:
The Singapore Airlines regional business class offering is a solid choice. The seat was comfortable and spacious, the food was good, and the staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
The extensive entertainment selections and free wifi also make Singapore Airlines 787 business class a relaxing journey. Silverkris Lounge access before takeoff and during layovers make the whole journey even more indulgent.
